There’s nothing wrong and quite literally everything right with Hot Chocolate.
It’s perfect for a cold day and so this month’s YYC Hot Chocolate Festival is perfectly timed for Calgarians.
This year's YYC Hot Chocolate Fest in Calgary will be a little different, given the current restrictions. In it's 10th year, there is lots to celebrate though, and so a global pandemic can't stop this growing annual event. For this year’s festival, there are over 50 vendors signed up to participate. Essentially, from February 1st to February 28th, you can head to any participating location and sample the concoction that they made for this year’s event by purchasing a cup of their hot chocolate. Using an app created for the festival or their website, vote for your favorite hot chocolate in Calgary throughout the entire month of February.
At the end of the month, the results from all the votes are tallied up and the winners for Calgary’s best Hot Chocolate, Calgary’s best spirited Hot Chocolate and Cup Runneth over Awards are announced.
YYC Hot Chocolate Festival is owned by Calgary’s Meals on Wheels. The festival is a creative and engaging fundraiser for the charity, which provides nutritious meals to people all across the city and from all walks of life. Meals on Wheels began as a charity that delivered food to eight clients from a church basement in 1969 to a facility-run charity which now delivers more than 463,000 per year to those in need across the city. In 2017, YYC Hot Chocolate Festival raised more than $36,000 for the charity and with more participating venues signing up each year, the event is growing and raising even more.
