Calgary is opening up again and it feels great! There’s a vibe returning to the city, even if it is slowly, but it’s a step in the right direction.
We took a drive through one of Calgary’s iconic landmarks the other day and thought we’d share some fun facts about it because everyone knows Peter’s Drive-In is the place to be. If you’re wondering if Peter’s Drive-In is open, the car line-up stretching for blocks was a testament that is it very much serving Calgary (and no, their walk-up windows are currently still closed).
Peter’s Drive-In was opened in 1962 and the food served then is essentially the same food served now. Their extensive milkshake menu allows for you to come up with your own delicious concoctions and never get bored. Using over 35,000 pounds of bananas every year in their milkshakes and splits, this iconic venue on the Calgary scene is definitely filed as something you should to check when looking for things to do in Calgary this weekend.
Looking for what else is opening up in Calgary? Here’s some other things we dug up:
Playgrounds are open
The Calgary Zoo is open
Heritage Park is doing a phased reopening
Stephen Avenue is open to pedestrians only
Craft Beer Market’s new roof top patio is open on 10th Ave
Contrary to the song, DO go chasing waterfalls by picking any of these 25 day trip waterfall hikes
City owned golf courses are opening up again, as well as private ones
As always though, stay safe!
